Since starting our company in 2006, a lot has change with fabrics and sustainability. At Nau, we have spent a lot of time developing our own fabric technology to make products that are ahead of the fashion game. We have to be honest, supply chain issues has everyone feeling uneasy as we go into 2022. With that in mind, we've partnered with Polartec® to create pieces that live up to our standards of what makes our clothing sustainable. But, what is Polartec® and why is it sustainable?
How It Started:
Polyester fibers have been engineered for more versatile durability. And fleece is well known for its softness, fast-dryness, breathability and light weight warmth. At Nau, after collecting waste PET bottles by color, we make sustainable products with recycled polyester fabrics and fillers produced through washing, melting, and spinning processes.
How It's Going:
We also want other companies to join our journey to sustainability. So, we are not only using our recycled polyester, but also working with many fabric companies which are producing recycled polyester, such as Polartec®. In 1981, Polartec® invented polar synthetic fleece. Polartec® was the first to knit, nap, and shear synthetic yarns into thermal fabric for outdoor apparel. Then Polartec® created the very first performance fabrics made from post-consumer recycled plastics in 1993. Polartec® commits to 100% recycled materials and biodegradability across the entire product line.
